Description

Choice is essential but not all choices lead to deeper learning. This session explores how to design flexible learning experiences that preserve rigor by anchoring instruction in firm, standards-aligned goals and offering construct-relevant options. Participants will unpack both content and method standards, examine the role of construct relevance, and use model tasks and optional AI tools to plan flexible pathways that promote engagement without lowering expectations.

Objectives

  • Define construct relevance and explain why it matters when designing with UDL.
  • Differentiate between firm goals and flexible means in relation to content and method standards.
  • Apply strategies to design learning experiences with flexible, construct-relevant choices that maintain high expectations for all learners.
