Description

Building on the big-picture overview, this session immerses participants in the science behind Universal Design for Learning (UDL), with a focus on the three principles: Engagement, Representation, and Action & Expression. Participants will explore how these principles connect to brain networks and how the UDL Guidelines can serve as a practical, problem-solving tool to design more inclusive, flexible learning experiences. Research snapshots and classroom examples will bring each principle to life.

Objectives

  • Describe the UDL principles of Engagement, Representation, and Action & Expression and their connection to brain science.
  • Use the UDL Guidelines to identify potential barriers and plan flexible pathways for learning.
  • Analyze classroom examples that illustrate each UDL principle in practice.
