Description

Effective co-teaching is more than having two adults in the same classroom—it is a collaborative approach to planning, instruction, and problem-solving that helps ensure all students can access rigorous learning opportunities. In this session, participants will explore the foundations of successful co-teaching, examine the six co-teaching approaches, and learn how strong partnerships support inclusive classroom environments. Educators will also explore the Collaborative Instructional Cycle and identify strategies for addressing common barriers to implementation, leaving with practical next steps for strengthening co-teaching in their own classrooms.

Objectives

  • Explore the six co-teaching approaches and determine when each is most effective.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities within a co-teaching partnership.
  • Understand the collaborative instructional cycle and its role in effective co-planning, instruction, and reflection.
  • Identify common barriers to successful co-teaching and develop strategies for overcoming them.
