Dr. Loui Lord Nelson
Dr. Nelson is an international educational consultant who focuses on Universal Design for Learning and Cultural Proficiency. She is the author of Design and Deliver: Planning and Teaching Using Universal Design for Learning (Paul H. Brookes Publishing, 2014) and co-author of Culturally Responsive Design for English Learners The UDL Approach (CAST Professional Publishing, 2017) Loui is a member of the CAST UDL Cadre. A former special education teacher, Loui provides guidance in UDL to schools, districts, state personnel, and universities across the globe. She also works as the UDL Specialist for School Wide Integrated Framework for Transformation (SWIFT), a national project that aims to shift American education to truly meet the needs of all learners. Dr. Nelson earned her doctorate in special education from the University of Kansas and was a postdoctoral fellow through CAST and Boston College in 2013.
