Terry Burge, M.Ed., is a true advocate for students, schools, school districts, and parents to ensure that EVERY student receives a quality education with access and equity to all resources to compete in the 21st-century world. His belief that every student can learn and succeed makes him a champion for the principles of UDL. Terry has over 24 years of educational expertise having been a teacher, instructional coach, intervention coordinator, master teacher, principal, district trainer, and district specialist in the 2nd largest school district in the U.S. He has also worked outside his district for ten years with one of the largest educational management organizations in the state of California to transform and turnaround troubled school districts.
Terry has deep expert-level content knowledge in the areas that most impact students today. These areas include English Language Arts and Math instruction aligned to standards; Foundational Reading and Literacy skills; differentiated instruction for English Language and Standard English Learners; students with disabilities and other vulnerable student populations (foster and homeless youth, LGBTQ students); project-based and brain-based teaching and learning; mentor coaching for teachers and administrators; and over 13 years of developing, delivering and reflecting on professional development at all educational levels.
Terry has practiced UDL strategies throughout his teaching experiences. Most recently, as a virtual online teacher, his use of UDL practices has brought them to a whole new dimension of teaching. He engages all students in mastery-based and personalized learning, therefore increasing student outcomes for all. He continues to hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Administrative Services Credential in the state of California.
