Building Capacity for UDL Implementation is a practical course for coaches and school leaders focused on moving UDL into everyday instructional practice. Participants learn coaching tools and routines that strengthen Tier 1 instruction, remove barriers, and support teachers in designing lessons that honor learner variability.
Building Capacity for UDL Implementation is a practical course designed for instructional coaches, department heads, teacher leaders, and school leaders who play a central role in supporting high-quality, inclusive instruction. This institute includes live sessions and asynchronous components that are intended to be completed by teams to build internal capacity. As schools work to strengthen Tier 1 practices and remove barriers to learning, leaders and coaches need a shared set of tools, strategies, and routines that help teachers apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) with clarity and confidence. Through readings, modeling, applied practice, and reflection, participants will learn how to support teachers in designing flexible lessons, improving student engagement, and developing classroom systems that honor learner variability. The course focuses on coaching techniques, effective feedback routines, and creating the conditions for collaboration, reflection, and sustained instructional improvement.

I have been an educator for 30 years and this is one of the best continuing education courses I have ever taken. We will be starting our 2nd year of a 3 year implementation plan and the resources I received in this course will help lead to our success. I feel empowered to continue our UDL journey.
Taking this UDL course with a trainer who is also an experienced implementer was truly transformative. Rather than focusing only on theory, the learning centered on what meaningful, sustainable UDL implementation looks like in practice, with an emphasis on building a comprehensive, district-wide blueprint. The course moved beyond “one-and-done” approaches, highlighting a thoughtful, cyclical process of growth, reflection, and refinement that supports lasting change. It helped me shift from isolated strategies to systemic thinking about embedding UDL across an entire district. Most importantly, the live weekly sessions and module content provided concrete tools, frameworks, and deliverables to make the work actionable. I feel both confident and prepared to help facilitate this process in my district in an intentional, strategic, and impactful way for all learners including teachers as well as students.
An initiative in Fraser Public Schools is to have UDL be the framework from which our educators design their learning experiences for students. We have implemented some training and provided teacher coaches; however, we are wanting to develop a cohesive plan that ties all of the work we do together. I registered my entire team – Administrators, coaches, and myself – for this course so we could all re-calibrate ourselves and build a plan that works for us. I can speak for the entire team when I say that this course was beyond expectation. It was thorough, full of resources, thought-provoking, and provided a logical scope and sequence to begin designing a plan for us. Beyond providing an abundance of resources, the course itself was a model for UDL practices for all participants to experience by providing multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression of responses. Further, Lisa was prompt with her responses and provided individual feedback to every participant. My team found it helpful to be able to read ideas from and respond to all the other participants in the course. This course did not disappoint and I would recommend it to anyone who is just getting started with UDL or, like us, wanting to re-calibrate and drive forward. We now have a plan that connects our teacher goals, coaching cycles, and professional development schedule.
I am an Instructional Coach embarking on a new journey in guiding teachers through UDL based Impact Cycles. This course was PERFECT for my needs. From pedagogy to meaningful goal setting to engaging teachers through productive struggle, to observations and feedback and how to keep it all going in the long run...this course gave me the tools and resources to refer back to. And Lisa knows her stuff!
This course has transformed both how I think about implementing UDL in my own classroom as well as how that fits in with the broader implementation of UDL at my school. I've acquired a ton of valuable resources that I have already begun using in meetings and planning time (and colleagues have already thanked me for sharing them!). As a teacher/coach, I learned how I can best utilize my relationships with colleagues and our leadership team to effect schoolwide change.
