How This Institute Works

Choose to enroll as an individual, or as a team of 3-5 people. Spend the year diving deeply into practices that support UDL implementation in sustainable ways.

Teams must submit all projects as a group whereas individuals will submit work independently.

An example team may include 5 instructional coaches from across a district -or- a building leader, 3 department heads, and an instructional coaches from a single building. You get to choose how to construct your team and you will work collaboratively on all assignments!

In today's diverse and inclusive educational landscape, effective UDL implementation is more critical than ever. This institute is designed to help individuals and teams who are committed to implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) across their learning environments in a comprehensive and sustainable way. This institute equips leaders and coaches with the tools, strategies, and mindset necessary to support transformative change. Teams and individuals will develop transformational coaching techniques, empowering them to support teachers and their peers in integrating UDL effectively, all while drawing on UDL best practices and data-focused coaching strategies.

The year-long approach is designed to ensure that teams and individuals have an opportunity to learn and engage with the materials while putting their learning into practice and execution. Participants will learn how to cultivate a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and innovation, along with fostering a growth mindset among staff to ensure a shared vision and implementation of UDL.

What is the difference between a facilitated and a flex-paced course?

A facilitated course is an instructor-led course or institute that takes place with a core group of students over a set period of time. Each week students will complete an assignment and/or participate in a discussion. Students will receive feedback along the way from the subject matter expert facilitator on how to improve the practical application of their learning. Additionally, students will engage with other students in the course - offering the opportunity to connect with varying levels of educators from around the world.

With a flex-paced course, there is no strict schedule or timeline to follow. You can take the course as quickly or as leisurely as you like based on your schedule. All of the course materials are available at your fingertips from the time of purchase. In order to receive a certificate for the course, you need to complete the course within one year from the time of registration.
What is a Virtual Institute?

The Virtual Institutes are an option for individuals or teams to enroll in a year-long intensive learning course focused on how to implement inclusive practices. Each institute consists of eight 1-hr webinars and is accompanied by opportunities to engage with fellow educators who also attend the series. You will be expected to complete 5-6 hours of work per month as an individual or team.
