Description

Every student holds the potential for success. No exceptions. Equity in education means designing learning environments that honor each learner’s identity, background, and needs while ensuring access to rigorous academic content. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a flexible framework that removes barriers and proactively supports all students. This session explores how UDL drives equity by anticipating variability, disrupting bias, and creating space for every learner to thrive.

Objectives

  • Explain the difference between equality and equity in the context of learning design.
  • Recognize how implicit and explicit bias can shape instructional decisions.
  • Apply UDL best practices to design learning experiences that are inclusive, identity-affirming, and academically rigorous.
