Dr. Liz Berquist
Dr. Liz Berquist has served as a consultant for the Maryland State Department of Education (the first state to pass legislation about UDL) and is a member of the Maryland State Department SWIFT Schools Leadership team work with researchers from the University of Kansas to create more inclusive opportunities for all learners. Dr. Berquist has collaborated with school districts and institutes of higher education in California, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia. Dr. Berquist is also a member of the CAST UDL faculty cadre and recently worked as the UDL Facilitator for the Gates Foundation UDL implementation project. Dr. Berquist is a frequent presenter at national conferences and has been an invited facilitator at the Harvard Graduate School of Education UDL Institute. She is featured in the UDL Series Implementation video, produced by the National Center on Universal Design for Learning. Dr. Berquist edited UDL: Moving from Exploration to Integration: A Collection of Case Studies that showcase the practical challenges and solutions of implementing UDL in systems, states, and schools (CAST Professional Publishing, 2017). Dr. Berquist is currently the Coordinator of Professional Growth for the Baltimore County Public Schools.
